It seems as though are elected leaders don’t want to be sullied with any part of that legislative swamp rot known as ObamaCare.
We don’t blame them.
Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.
The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.
First of all, the political fallout should only hit Democrats. We realize that we don’t speak for everyone, or even every conservative, but for our part there is no way that we would criticize any Republican for wanting to opt out of that monstrosity since none of them voted for it. If they want out, let them have out. We won’t hold it against them.
But our perspective towards the Democrats is a completely different story. These are the blowhard hacks who assured us how good this law would be for the country, and now they want out? Excuse us for being a little irate about this, but it’s pretty sick that they foisted a law on us that sucks so bad that they don’t even want to be a part of it themselves.
Here, in a nutshell, is everything that’s wrong with Democrats in Washington, and the entitlement mindset which has permeated our culture to such a degree that we, as a people, delegate the decisions about what’s in our own best interests to these ivory-towered creeps. These braying jackasses bellowed out platitudes like “quality, affordable healthcare” and “30 million uninsured” in an effort to sell us something that sucks more than an industrial strength vacuum, as evinced by the fact that the leathery-faced gasbags don’t even want to be part of the law themselves.
The worst villain in all of this is, of course, Nancy “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it” Pelosi. Clearly, she didn’t know what was in it, either, just like so many other legislators, including sponsors, who didn’t even read the bill. Now that she’s found out, and she realizes that it reeks worse than a dead skunk in a slaughterhouse waste dump, she knows that she wants nothing to do with it. Remember, she once said that healthcare reform would be her Christmas gift to the American people. It’s more like grand larceny from The Grinch.
Liberal legislators are not alone in their hypocrisy regarding ObamaCare. Liberal activists have earned our scorn as well. Numerous unions, which fought so hard to sabotage our nation’s healthcare system, have sought waivers for ObamaCare. In other words, just like those pathetic pilferers in Congress, they told us all that healthcare reform would be so good for the country. Then, almost immediately after it was passed, they requested waivers, so that the law, which we were assured was a humanitarian spectacle of kindness and do-goodery, would not apply to them.
And let’s not forget: they lied when they said it would reduce the deficit, too.
Ronald Reagan used to say that the scariest words in the English language are: “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” And, once again, we are reminded why that statement is so true.
