Those 47% Of Voters Who Romney Said Aren't Voting For Him Are Now REALLY Not Voting For Him Because He Said That September 18, 2012
We have already paid homage to the non-outrage outrage du jour coming from the Romney camp. We are, of course, referring to his astonishingly accurate statement that 47% of the American people are dependent on government and therefore would swallow a live rattlesnake head first rather than vote for a Republican. (We took a little artistic license with the last sentence).
The chattering class will paint this as another example of ineptitude from the Romney campaign. The problem, of course, is that speaking the truth is not ineptitude. This was also true when Romney spoke the truth about Obama's foreign policy disaster last week and, instead of criticizing the disaster, the lamestream media jumped on Romney with coordinated talking points disguised as questions.
But the reality is this: All Romney did was alienate people who were already alienated. Indeed, he has explained that his campaign strategy is to reach out to the people who are not firmly in either camp. This is hardly the stuff of controversies.
But the wigglejaws on the cable news networks will not portray it that way. Because that doesn't help President Obama.
