Gallup Shows Romney And Obama Tied, Therefore Obama Sues Gallup September 7, 2012
The evidence here is circumstantial, but we don't put anything past this administration with its history of Chicago-style thuggery against political (polling?) opponents.
Remember, we have noticed in the past that some major polling organizations seem to want to develop a narrative. In this case, that narrative is that Obama is leading in the polls and/or tied with Romney. The idea is to keep Democrats from becoming demoralized from seeing bad polling data. To that end, a lot of these polling organizations are polling registered, rather than likely voters, and those polls tend to give Democrats a 2-3 point advantage.
Even though Gallup is using registered voters, President Obama still doesn't like the outcome. So apparently he has directed Eric Holder to file suit against the company.
Oh, on paper it's got nothing to do with polling. Supposedly it's got something to do with Gallup overcharing the federal government on contracts. Yeah.
There's also been some more personal intimidation from the White House towards Gallup. After Gallup released a poll showing Romney leading by 5 nationally, a senior Gallup staffer said he was asked "to come over [to the White House] and explain our methodology..."
The latest Gallup poll (coincidentally?) shows Obama leading by 1.
We'll interested in seeing how this story develops.
