Obama Campaign Says Ryan 'Falls Flat' With Voters, Which Means That Ryan Does Not 'Fall Flat' With Voters August 16, 2012

Remember, you can usually tell that a Democrat is lying because his lips are moving.

So when Democratic pollster Joel Benenson released a memo today entitled, "The Announcement Without A Bounce: Romney's Choice Falls Flat", we were pretty sure that this indicated good news for the Romney/Ryan campaign.

In a memo called "The Announcement Without a Bounce: Romney's Choice Falls Flat," Democratic pollster Joel Benenson cited data he says put Ryan's selection "on par with the selections of Sarah Palin and Dan Quayle."

"The announcement of a nominee's running mate has typically led to a measurable bump for a ticket," Benenson wrote. "Since 1996, Republicans have received an average 4.7-point gain in the polls, according to Gallup."

According to Wednesday's national daily-tracking poll from Gallup, Romney's standing in the presidential race has not changed since he announced Ryan as his running mate.

First, we're not sure that Team Romney wants to be taking Vice Presidential selection advice from the campaign that gave us a flake like Joe Biden.

Second, let's recall that George H.W. Bush won with Dan Quayle on the ticket in 1988. Sure, going up against that troglodyte-lookalike named Dukakis probably didn't hurt, either. But the fact is this: Bush won with Quayle on the ticket. We think he would have won in 1992 if he hadn't violated that "read my lips" pledge to not raise taxes.

Sarah Palin also gave John McCain a bounce. Again, we think that ticket would have won if it wasn't for the financial meltdown that occurred in October of 2008.

Finally, we have polling data that stands in stark contrast to what Mr. Benenson is saying.
