CNN's Howard Kurtz Busted By TVNewser July 11, 2012
CNN's Howard Kurtz is the dude who hosts Reliable Sources every Sunday.
In case you're not familiar with Reliable Sources, it's a show much like Fox News Watch. You are probably more familiar with Fox News Watch because, unlike CNN, Fox News Channel actually has viewers.
And Howard Kurtz is one of the reasons why CNN doesn't have viewers.
Anyway, to the point. Today, he claimed to have an "exclusive" story which he broke on — wait for it — Twitter.
His tweet was about MSNBC (the other cable news network that nobody watches). Here's what he wrote: "EXCLUSIVE: NBC plans to buy back remaining half of MSNBC.com from Microsoft, rebrand as NBCNews.com tinyurl.com/7ujrxjr"
One problem: There was nothing "exclusive" about it. TVNewser already broke the story. Back in May.
Anyway, on his weekly TV show that nobody watches, Howard Kurtz frequently takes a critical eye at the media for biased or inaccurate reporting. We have to wonder if he'll be analyzing himself this Sunday.
We think he won't. He seems to have doubled-down on his non-exclusiveness with a followup tweet: "Obviously there's been reporting that NBC-Microsoft divorce might happen, but the news is it actually *is* happening, employes to be moved"
But he didn't reference those reports. He led his followers to believe that he was breaking an exclusive story.
He's not much of a reliable source after all.
