Obama Also Says That Ray Bradbury Is 'Doing Just Fine' June 8, 2012
|
WASHINGTON—Following up on his comments from this morning, in which he said that the private sector is "doing just fine", President Obama called another press conference to spread some more optimism.
"Ray Bradbury is doing just fine," the President said. "The last I heard, he was riding a unicycle somewhere near Georgetown."
The President was apparently unaware that the famous author had passed away earlier this week.
"Greece is also doing just fine," the President continued. "They have a stable economy. They're getting out of debt. And the people there are very happy."
The President was clearly unaware that the unemployment rate in Greece is close to 22% and that the nation's economy contracted more than 6% in the first quarter.
"Chris Matthews is also doing just fine as a journalist," the President said.
This drew loud belly laughs from the Washington Press Corps.
The President looked stunned, but continued.
"Attorney General Eric Holder is doing just fine as he answers questions about Fast & Furious," the President said.
At this statement, the Washington Press Corps looked stunned.
"My re-election campaign is also doing just fine," the President continued.
At this statement, every member of the Washington Press Corps, with the exception of MSNBC's Chuck Todd, simply stood up and walked out.
