Libtalker Bill Press: National Anthem Is An 'Abomination' Because 'It Ranges Two Octaves' June 5, 2012
|
Well this one is going to get him in trouble.
Liberal Bill Press, who really hasn't been that famous since his days on Crossfire, decided use his radio show today to rail against our national anthem.
Conservatives should be happy. He is actually reinforcing the stereotype of the unpatriotic liberal, just like Chris Hayes did recently on MSNBC.
"The national anthem is just absolutely, monumentally unsingable," Press says.
Which is certainly true. If you're a communist.
"It ranges two octaves... most people can only do... kind of one octave," Press continues.
Bill Press "kind of" makes sense if you listen to what he says backwards.
And then, of course, Press starts taking shots at the "bombs bursting in air" and "rockets red glare" lines. So, as with Chris Hayes, we also see the anti-military stereotype being reinforced.
Good news: Bill Press is okay with the phrase "land of the free". It's "nice".
But, sadly, he votes for Democrats, who couldn't care less about freedom.
Press finishes with a highly instructive moment about the "land of the brave" line. He asks: "Are we the only ones who are brave?"
Excluding Bill Press and Chris Hayes, we think so.
Have a listen for yourself.
