On the back of that, the California Senate decided that the best thing to do would be to pass a bill curtailing ex-gay therapy in that state.

The bill passed 23-13, and it now moves on to the Assembly.

The bill, if it becomes law, would prevent minors from being subject to ex-gay therapy.

Because, after all, rectal intercourse is the best form of intimacy for 16-year-old boys in that state.

Also if it became law: Adults who attend ex-gay therapy would have to sign an informed consent document about "how dangerous and ineffective it is."

Wait a second. Wait a second. Wait a second.

We thought that liberals were against states intervening in medical practices with "informed consent" legislation.

Oh, that's right. That's only true with regards to abortion.

But we're actually happy that this happened.

California serves as a perfect model about what happens when liberals in government run amok: a lousy economy, an out-of-control deficit, an unsustainable welfare state, and silly social legislation that only makes sense to about 2-3% of the population.

Well, in California, that might be more like 5-10% of the population.

And with business leaders leaving that state almost en masse, pretty soon they'll be the only ones left.
