This weekend, please take a moment to actually remember those men and women who served in our armed forces and have paid the ultimate price.

That is, after all, why it's called Memorial Day.

We have the freedom to cook our hot dogs and eat our hamburgers because brave soldiers made the sacrifice that, for whatever reason, we didn't have to.

Those holiday picnics were bought with a price.

While thinking about this, we can't help but recall the words of Jesus: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

The principle there being that death must result to bring about new life.

And we honor those who died, whose blood watered our tree of liberty here in the United States.

And now that tree flourishes. Because they died.

May we all honor their sacrifices this holdiay weekend.

It's an overworked cliche, but still true: Freedom isn't free.

And take a moment to also honor those you know who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces.

These are great people who enable us to live in peace because they were willing to take the risks necessary to preserve liberty.
