'Jigga That Nigga' Singer Says Obama Was Right To Support Gay Marriage May 15, 2012
So Obama may have lost black Christians.
But at least he gets to keep Jay-Z.
CNN was kind enough to take the time to answer the question that most Americans have been asking for the past week: What does Jay-Z think about Obama supporting gay marriage?
It was "the right thing to do" according to the famous rapper.
"I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back," Jay-Z said. What exactly it was holding the country back from, he could not say.
"It's no different than discriminating against blacks," he continued, referencing that terrible era in American history when black people weren't allowed to marry each other.
When asked if Obama's flip-flop would cost him votes, Jay-Z said: "It's not about votes. It's about people."
And thus he proves once and for all that people who are worth $450 million can say stupid things.
That's not to say that Jay-Z hasn't been known for astute political analysis. At the beginning of his song Blue Magic, he offers this outstanding tidbit of wisdom: "Blame Reagan for making me to into a monster, blame Oliver North and Iran-Contra, I ran contraband that they sponsored, before this rhymin' stuff we was in concert."
So if you think that Jay-Z is stupid, blame Reagan and Oliver North.
