Dem Candidate For Governor Wants A Constitutional Amendment Banning Same-Sex Marriage May 13, 2012
Ha!
Proving once again that it's not as politically popular as the chorus of partisan lapdogs over at MSNBC would have you believe, an Indiana Democratic gubernatorial candidate says he wants a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.
Cool!
His name is John Gregg. And apparently he realizes that he is actually running for governor of Indiana and not Vermont.
People in Indiana are, in the aggregate, fairly conservative. And they tend to possess common sense.
Which is why, politically speaking, Mr. Gregg is on the right side of this issue.
"John doesn't base his policy positions on polling numbers or on what national Democrats are saying. His personal belief is that marriage is between a man and a woman and he's not going to change any of his beliefs because it's politically expedient," said Mr. Gregg's campaign spokesperson Megan Jacobs.
Yeah. We're certain that if he was running for mayor of San Francisco that would be his position as well.
Oh, and did we mention that Indiana has its own version of the Defense of Marriage Act? That Act states, and we're quoting here, that "Only a female may marry a male. Only a male may marry a female."
Welcome to the 21st century, where such common sense language is considered controversial.
The rights mafia, as usual, appealed to the courts to get Indiana DOMA repealed. And they lost.
And, color us cynical, but that's probably why this Dem running for governor of Indiana says he opposes same-sex marriage.
