Maddow: Income Inequality Is The Root Of All Evil May 2, 2012
Hey, did you know that Congressional gridlock was caused by income inequality?
Oh, yeah. The Great Depression, too.
It must be true. Rachel Maddow has charts to prove it. And she prominently displayed those charts on her television program last night right before interviewing Paul "$16 trillion isn't enough debt" Krugman.
We call this a post hoc ergo propter hoc argument.
The idea is: Because one thing happened before a second thing, then the first thing caused the second thing.
It's actually a logical fallacy.
And MSNBC's token lesbian offers no evidence that income inequality caused The Great Depression or Congressional gridlock. Just a timeline.
And we also love to note how liberals love to stereotype themselves. Maddow is totally obsessed with blaming our political and economic ills on income inequality. She is the emobiment of what conservatives expect her to be.
This "let's blame everything on income inequality" line is a crazy attempt to promote class warfare. The more bad things that you can blame on "the rich" or "the gap between the richest Americans and the poorest Americans", the more likely you are to create an environment of class envy.
And people who subscribe to the "class envy" dogma will much more likely vote Democrat.
They will also subscribe to economic policies (e.g., progressive taxation) that lead to economic strangulation.
So, in a way, it's ironic that Maddow promotes class warfare while at the same time claiming that she wants a sound economy.
If she wants a stronger economy, she should support cutting taxes on the job creators.
Check out Maddow's logical fallacy below.
