Rather Doubles Down On Stupid: Claims His '60 Minutes' Story About Bush Was Accurate April 30, 2012
This morning on Good Morning America, Dan Rather decided to make Dan Savage's pig-ignorant rant against the Bible seem almost normal.
Apparently after forgetting to tell the Good Morning America producers that his current mental state disqualifies him from providing intelligent answers, he told George Stephanopoulos that his 2004 story about Bush receiving preferential treatment at the Texas Air National Guard was "true".
Yeah. He really said that.
Yo, Dan: The documents that you used to report that Bush received preferential treatment were bogus. They were forged.
Some clown ran a Microsoft Word document through a Xerox machine a bunch of times to make it look "old". Then this jerk managed to get it in your hands so that you could prove to the world that you failed Journalism 101.
You even apologized for being naive enough to believe your "source".
Oh, and that "source" was Bill Burkett. Bill Burkett was a Democratic activist, you boob! You didn't think to check that?
You should stand by your apology, Dan. Not your original misrepresentation of the facts.
Back in 2004, The Washington Post reported on the Rathergate as follows: "What remains unclear is who provided the documents to Burkett and whether the memos were forged in a calculated effort to discredit Bush in the final weeks of his reelection effort."
Actually, there was nothing unclear about that last part.
This was a clearly a lamestream media hitjob against Bush in an effort to derail his re-election effort.
But it was against a Republican, so Media Matters didn't care that it happened.
It was good to see the media lose in 2004.
Apparently Dan Rather wishes that he had won.
