Barney Frank: Obama's Good On Gay Issues Except When He's Not Good On Gay Issues April 27, 2012
There's no way that Barney Frank is being straight with us.
The country's first gay Congressman is happy that Obama has done some good things for gay rights, but claims that it is "a problem" that Obama hasn't endorsed gay marriage.
Overall, though, he gives Obama an A- on gay issues.
Now that A- may seem generous, considering that the President has opposed gay marriage in the past. But Obama earned extra credit for saying that he is "evolving" on the issue. That's cool with gays as long as you're not a conservative or a beauty contestant like Carrie Prejean.
And it's a good thing that Obama repealed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", otherwise his grade might have dropped all the way down to a B+.
Unless he was a Republican. Then it would be an F.
The whole point here is that Obama continues to get a pass on his—we'll say it—"homophobic" view of marriage because of his political affiliations and left-wing politics in other areas.
This is an agreement between gays and the Democrats that is understood and necessary. The gays need Democrats not nearly as much as the Democrats need gays. So gays put up with Democrats who wear their anti-gay agenda on their sleeves.
It's for the gay-er good.
