Aspen Chamber Of Commerce So Obsessed With Globaloney That They Left The U.S. Chamber Of Commerce April 27, 2012
Uncool.
It seems that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce just isn't green enough for the Aspen Chamber of Commerce.
So, in an 11-to-1 vote, the Aspen CoC decided to drop its membership. Specifically, because people affiliated with the Aspen Chamber had enough "with the right-wing U.S. Chamber and its obstruction of solutions to climate change."
And what is this "obstruction of solutions to climate change"? That would be the U.S. Chamber's oppositiion to cap and trade.
You know, that environmental plan so radical that Obama couldn't get it through a Democratically-controlled Congress?
Wait. So does this mean that the Aspen Chamber of Commerce will sever its ties with the Democratic Party?
Ha! Zing!
In fairness, the Democrats in the House passed it with the thinnest of majorities (in spite of the fact that they had sizeable majority at the time). But even a filibuster-proof majority of Democrats in the Senate didn't bring the bill up for a vote.
It's that radical.
And, like the Aspen Chamber of Commerce, Nike and Apple have also pulled out of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Apparently, these private corporations are run by people who think that increased government control of the economy is better for business.
There is a word for people like that: dummkopf.
