Bad News For Al Sharpton: Zimmerman Is Black April 26, 2012

Well, technically he's an octoroon. That is, his grandmother was biracial.

But he has black ancestry. His great-grandfather was Afro-Peruvian.

Now what, Jesse Jackson? It's not in your agenda to declare war on people who share your heritage.

And what are the New Black Panthers going to do with this? Are they going to practice their own form of hypodescent and claim that the dominant part of Zimmerman is the European/Latino part? Is that how they'll justify their hatred and calls for violence?

Or maybe the race mafia has a minimum requirement: Anything less than one quarter minority blood and you cannot claim victimhood.

And we also recall tortured attempt of The New York Times to make Zimmerman look like a member of the "privileged" race. They called him "A White Hispanic". We have to wonder if the good editors at The Old Grey Lady will now start referring to Zimmerman as "A White Hispanic Of Afro-Peruvian Descent".

We doubt it.

And we also remember good old Joe Scarborough foolishly commenting on the Zimmerman case before all the facts were in. He was asking questions like, "If this was a black person who shot a white guy, is there any doubt that he would be arrested?"

What now, Joe? Did Zimmerman just not look "black enough" for you?

Here's a novel idea: How about if we focus on the crime if one exsited, and not the race of the aggressor and/or victim?

Too simple. But we can dream.
