Separation Of Church And State Extremists Strike Again! April 26, 2012

There's nothing like kicking a guy when he's down.

When the city of Woonsocket, Rhode Island reported that it's close to bankruptcy, the anti-Christian bigots over at the Freedom From Religion Foundation decided it would be really cool time to pressure the city to remove a 91 year old cross.

Because if there's one thing that this country needs, it's less devotion to God.

Oh, it doesn't stop there. FFRF also wants the city to scrub (gasp!) an angel and prayer from the fire department's web site.

Who says liberals aren't in favor of censorship?

The group cites the angel-and-prayer bit as "woefully out of date", which begs the question: How did the city last so long with such "out-of-date" practices? Just lucky?

Certainly, many like-minded jerks would love to send a donation to FFRF for their efforts, but we're sure that they would never accept it. You see, the money has "In God We Trust" written on it.

Liberals who support this kind of anti-religious extremism should look to a 1983 court case: Marsh v. Chambers. In that case, the court ruled that legislative chaplains are perfectly legal.

If chaplains, who offer prayers before lawmakers, are perfectly legal, then we're pretty sure it's okay to depict on angel on the web site of a city fire department.

But, because of of its financial woes, Woonsocket will probably not be able to defend itself. Not even with the simple argument that we just cited above.

FFRF knows that, and that's why they're putting pressure on the city at this sensitive time.

That's how cruel they are.
